What your government recommends

The Kuwait government has not published a number of days to be ready for (or we have not found one yet). See what other governments recommend.

Good to know

• Kuwait has not published a household stockpiling guide (days of supplies or water) that we could find; guidance focuses on siren signals and where to shelter.
• Learn the three siren signals: intermittent = possible danger, rising-and-falling = danger now, continuous = all clear.

How you will be alerted

Civil Defence warning sirens with three signals: intermittent tone – possible danger or disaster: stay calm, cut off gas and electricity, secure flammable materials, avoid lifts and go to the ground floor, a basement or a public shelter if available; rising and falling (wave-like) tone – danger is happening: switch off indoor and outdoor lights, go to a shelter or basement, stay away from doors, entrances and windows (use torches if you must move inside); drivers go to the nearest public shelter, keep to the right and turn off headlights; pedestrians enter the nearest shelter or safe building; if there is an explosion, lie flat and cover your face and ears; continuous tone – the danger has ended. Sirens are tested monthly (first Monday of the month at 10:00, per the Ministry of Interior's January 2026 announcement). The Ministry of Interior asks people to stay calm, follow General Directorate of Civil Defence instructions and official media, and not spread rumours.^[1]^[2]

Shelters and civil defence

During a danger siren go to a shelter or basement, or the ground floor if there is no basement, away from doors, entrances and windows; outdoors, go to the nearest public shelter or safe building. Kuwait Fire Force advice: move to the safest place inside your home, away from open areas; close doors and windows and sit or lie near an inner wall until it is safe. After the all-clear, check that all family members are accounted for, avoid crowding near damaged areas, don't touch unknown objects and report suspicious items. In March 2026 the Ministry of Social Affairs said 95 shelter centres had been set up inside schools across the governorates.^[1]^[3]^[5]
