What your government recommends

Be ready for 2 weeks of essential food[1]

β€œKeeping a two-week supply of essential food items like these can help you and your loved ones during a crisis or an emergency.”

Food: Follow the ABCs: Adapt and be flexible with your food options; Buy and keep a reasonable amount of non-perishable food in your pantry for emergencies; Consume only what you need and choose alternatives. Examples: rice (raw or cooked instant rice), uncooked noodles (pasta or instant noodles) and canned food (meat, vegetables, beans). Rotate stocked items regularly so the food stays safe.[1]

Good to know

  • β€’ The SCDF handbook has a wartime chapter: if water supply is disrupted, distribution points will be set up near your home (bring your own containers); food (and fuel) may be rationed with coupons collected using your Registration Notice and NRIC.
  • β€’ The two-week figure refers to essential food items; SCDF does not give a litres-per-day water figure. Bottled water is an optional Ready Bag item.
  • β€’ Get information from official sources such as the SGSecure app during emergencies.
