Bilmekte fayda var

• Oman has not published a household stockpiling guide (days of supplies or litres of water) that we could find. Official guidance focuses on cyclones, heavy rain and flash floods.
• Make sure your phone can receive the early warning broadcast, follow only official sources, and never cross a flowing wadi.
• Call 9999 in an emergency.

Nasıl uyarılacaksınız

Oman has an early warning broadcast service that sends area-targeted warning messages to mobile phones for hazards such as flash floods and tropical storms, including cyclones. Messages are sent in Arabic, English, Hindi and Urdu, arrive with a special tone and must reach phones even in silent mode. Warnings point to bulletins from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre. During severe weather in March 2026 the National Committee for Emergency Management (اللجنة الوطنية لإدارة الحالات الطارئة) also sent broadcast messages to smartphones and shared warnings on media and social media. Follow weather forecasts and instructions only from official sources and do not spread rumours.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]

Sığınaklar ve sivil savunma

During storms and floods, the authorities open shelter centres in the governorates expected to be affected; in March 2026 the national shelter system listed 215 centres, of which 64 were fully equipped. Follow official instructions on when to go to a shelter. Keep away from wadis (dry riverbeds that can flood suddenly), low-lying areas, the edges of wadis and water bodies; do not stand under trees during rain; keep away from lampposts and dangling wires; and switch off unnecessary electrical switches. Deliberately crossing a flowing wadi is a crime. If you see a drone or suspicious flying object: stay calm, move away from it, do not gather near the site, report it by WhatsApp to 77720078 and do not share images on social media.^[3]^[4]^[5]^[7]
